African Electoral Institute (AEI) Is Calling For An Unedited/Live Broadcast Of Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) Meetings With Regards To The Voter Register

The African Electoral Institute

The 7th December 2024 general election in Ghana is critical for the country’s democratic growth, economic development, and regional stability.

Ghana has a reputation for peaceful transfer of power, and this election will further consolidate Ghana’s democratic credentials and political stability.

A credible and robust voter register is the foundation of a fair, transparent, and inclusive electoral process, ensuring the integrity of democracy.

African Electoral Institute(AEI) is calling for the unedited broadcast of IPAC meetings to facilitate transparency with regard to the integrity and robustness of the 2024 voters register.

Unedited broadcasts of such important meetings will enable the electorates to witness discussions and decisions firsthand, hence promoting openness and inclusivity.

The unedited broadcast will ensure the EC and IPAC are accountable for their actions and commitments to the electorates.

Further to that, unedited broadcast will enhance the EC’s credibility by showcasing its commitment to transparency per its core values, which are ” transparency, fairness, integrity.”
This will ultimately reduce speculation, rumours, and misinformation about the voter register.

In view of the above, the African Electoral Institute (AEI) supports the unedited broadcast of IPAC meetings to promote trust, transparency, accountability and ultimately strengthen Ghana’s democratic processes, political stability, and a peaceful credible election for national cohesion.
